Our Media... Good, Bad or What?

I hate Pakistan! What in Pakistan! Go abroad Pakistan main kuch nahin hai! Why didn't you go to australia you are such a fool! Pakistan wont survive the coming years! Pakistan is bad! No electricity, expensive food, expensive petrol! I hate Pakistan!

Does it sound familiar? I probably guess it does, right.

But I grew up in Pakistan, we never used to say or hear these things in the past. Everyone at our childhood was a die hard Pakistani. We used to say proudly I am a Pakistani. Everyone was willing to give his life for our beloved country. Things were good and there was no tension.

Where as now, every person is tense. No one seems calm, there is a feeling that like we belong to no place, we feel ashamed in saying that we are from Pakistan and everyone is cursing the country and tells everyone there is no future here.

What brought such a change to the mentality of people. What made people hate their country?

Alot many reasons can be associated to it but one of the reason which i would like to associate is media! All the news channels, newspaper, radio, internet... all these are responsible for this thinking. When do a country doesn't have problems! which country doesn't have problems? but people don't think like this about their country.

In the past there were problems in our country as well. There was dictatorship, there were other things as well but only media was not open to tell each and every small detail to people sometime even exaggerating it. The open media which is chaotic now, it just everyday pours lots of things about how bad our officials are, how bad our politicians are, how bad things are. So much that everyone just hate the country.

If some riot happened in karachi is it necessary that i know it? will it make a difference to the country? If some bomb blasted in Sadar rwp will it do any good each and every person of our country know about it? Will it do any good? Will it change the situation?
No it wont but it will affect our minds, minds of our people. It will create a sense of fear and disparity in us. And we will be tempted to leave our country to find peace somwhere else.

Its time for our officials i think to start censoring the media, I think our media should only tell the good things that are happening in our country. At this time we want high hopes for the people, sense of nationalism, integrity and love for our country. We need men who want to fight for their country willing to give their life for the country.

There were people going abroad, studying there settling there but as the media has made everyone fearful more and more people are leaving the country and people fear to get back and settle in the homeland. Businessmen don't want to invest here because of the sense of volatility.

We have excellent doctors, scientist, engineers, graphic designers and people of all profession working abroad. I just wish all of them come back to Pakistan and start working here. Yes, they will face a lot of problem but their names will live on as the people who brought the change. These foreign countries don't need us but we need them, where as our country need able men.

PS: I had to stop myself from writing alot of things else this post would have taken a long time to write. I would like a healthy discussion on this post

Diary: 11-August-2008 and couple of days ago

Hostel serene hostel. For the last couple of days i am enjoying the calm environment of hostel during holidays, No noise, No boys, No tensions just you and yourself. Such environment is quite good to find oneself.

Anyhow things are going good. I have started to work for my final year project. Dr. Bilal gave us a problem which none of my group mates including me have been able to solve. We also have been given a cabin in the FYP area of Electrical department.

Mustafa(Swami) brought a car two days ago and asked me if i could join them for wandering in the city, I agreed. Hassan Abid (Dabanga) was also with him. Hassan abid first had some work at some place so we dropped him and then just wandered here and there in his car. At 8:30 we met him at Afghan Tika kabab house, and I hate a whole lot of delicious kababs with Kabuli Pulao.

After having dinner we went to Frontier house, Swami being son of current Deputy Speaker of NWFP wanted to look for staying a night at frontier house but sadly the place was unavailable. From there we went to Pir Sohawa, Though i have been in Rawalpindi for like 3 years but i never went to that place. But i tell you its really amazing place, I never knew it was such a nice place else i would have come here much often. The night view of ISB was remarkable and the breeze was cool and refreshing. There was also live music and one person was singing slow songs, he was too good. I could have spent whole night listening to his songs but my friends got bored and said we should go now. On way downhill we had ice-cream at Daman-e-Koh. We wanted to go to some places but didn't know where to go, It was also one o'clock in the night. Dabanga said i am hungry i want to eat chips and as Mc'Donalds was near so we went there. When i reached there Dabanga's Chips turned into a full fledged meal.... Cheese burgers, French fries.... I like the ice-cream there so i also took a Sundae which was also snatched and eaten by swami from me.

Anyhow we reached back college at 2 o'clock. But i had good fun that night.

Apart from that i have put on lots of weight during these holidays. After all got to eat home food after a long time... for a long time... 92 Kilograms with 37'' waist!! whoosh... I had no clothes to wear as no old ones will fit. So from today i started to exercise and Gym. Actually have started palying football. Lets hope i get to my old waist soon.

Bye for now
Love you all

The Plant worth 500,000 PKR

2 weeks ago, there was a ceremony to mark the beginning of plantation week of Azad Kashmir. The Chief guest was the Prime Minister of AJK, currently Sardar Atique. The ceremony was managed by Forest Dept. of AJK everything to this ceremony was related to AJK but only one thing was not. Ironically the ceremony was not held in AJK but in Kashmir house, Islamabad.

So, because of this gesture of holding the ceremony in ISB the whole Dept of Forest had to come to ISB on their Govt. vehicles to attend that ceremony from AJK. The chief guest as usual came 2 hours late planted the tree and talked to the TV reporters. I was there too listed to his talks carefully.... Trust we he is a big bluffer.

I remembered his speeches of early days, the claims he made i didn't see them fulfilling in the near future. One thing I remembered was that he will make Muzaffarabad to Kohala a 5 lane express way!!! It is mountain area with sliding problems in every rainy season and there he was making an express way, also did the PM even thought about the amount to mountains that would be needed to cut or the money required for the project were they even feasible in near future.... I don't think so but he just made the claim because making claims is easy....

Returning back to the topic after that he made some speech in the auditorium and after that a grand tea was served. The approx cost of function includind the gasoline charge was around 5 lakh rupees so the dept of Forest spent 5 lac rupees in just planting one tree

N then they say, our greenery is becoming lesser day by day.....

Diary: for last few weeks

I haven't been able to write for all this time sorry for that. Actually i had planned to spent the start of my summer vacation just doing nothing and lazying around, and tell you what i almost succeeded in that!!!

Well as it would be probably the last summer vacations of my student life so i thought not to do anything to spoil my vacations, things like internships, though i got one at PnG. And once in home my best time pass was with me, yes you guessed it right sleeping.... I slept greatly and hugely and humungusly, Most of the times for about 12 hours or so.

And there were in the start farooq and jawad usmani with me there too. Farooq is doing mechanical engineering and usmani, civil, both from UET Lahore. They have been good friends of mine since my college time and I had good fun with them. For 2 nights we stayed at my place, and at one night we had planned to watch a movie, As it happened the movie was in PC of Usmani who lives at a walking distance from my house. We went there to his house but there his electricity was gone, there was some maintenance work going on and it was not supposed to come soon, So we thought to take his hardisk with us. We opened his PC but the hardisk was secure locked with 4 screws which were very deep and he had no tools, it took us an hour to open and get it out with keys, keychains, knives and a lot more stuff. After that we went to my house, I had a PC in the upper storey we went there happy that now we will be able to watch the movie but as i turned on my PC it beeped three times, meaning it had no RAM!!! Somebody had taken it, we tried to find it everywhere but couldn't find it!!! but as it had made us do such hardwork we had to watch the movie now! It was also past midnight so to get help was very difficult now. But taking the risk I asked Usmani and Farooq to go to usmani's house and fetch his ram as well, they went out and i remained inside the house near the main gate. Both of them returned after half an hour overly joyed with chips, pepsi and a ram in there hand.
i took the RAM ran upto my computer but what! It was SDRAM, my motherboard only supported DDR.... and then the anger you could imagine of both of them and mine as well, as they had very secretly and with great precaution brought the RAM with fear of Usmani's Father, they were about to beat me that i ran away.
So that night we spent sleeping.

Anyhow later I watched many movies, watched "What women want" Really nice movie it is, also watched Heyy Babyy also a good movie but the movies that i love the most if you ask me i will name 2 movies
1. Perfume
2. Requiem for a dream

If you are an ardent movie lover and you have your taste developed overtime, these movies are a must watch.

My two cousins also got married, I didn't enjoyed much on their wedding though, One is married to an engineer in Jhelum and the other to a teacher in muzaffarabad. And my two other cousins passed their matriculation examinations one with 743 marks other with 688 marks. Hope all they do well afterwards as well.

Love you all
